Beautiful Grandmillennial Sofas for the Classic Decorator
As an avid thrifter, I’m always going to advocate purchasing furniture secondhand. However, I understand that there are a couple of issues with this method:
- Secondhand options are largely dependent on location.
- Finding a secondhand piece can be a challenge if you are in a time crunch.
- Potential risks of bug infestations (bed bugs).
- The cost of upholstering an old piece can be high – sometimes as much as a new piece.
These are all legitimate drawbacks. Given that not all of us can go the secondhand route, I have gathered some of the best Grandmillennial sofas for easy browsing.
There’s quite a variety – solid to patterned, big and small – so you’re sure to find something to your taste.
Grandmillennial Sofas
Marilyn Sofa
I love this sofa – it always stops me in my tracks when I see it online. I’m not in the market for a sofa, but if I was, this would definitely make it onto my list of considerations.
This sofa is very customizable. There are dozens of fabrics to choose from, and you have the option to select contrasting fabric for the welt and piping.
Handcrafted in North Carolina so you know you’re getting a well-made piece of furniture.
Kennedy Sofa
There’s something about this piece by Caitlin Wilson that vaguely reminds me of Bunny William’s scalloped sofa that was released many years ago at Ballard Designs. Not quite the same, but there’s something there.
The curved design on the back of this sofa is a great detail that gives it a soft, contemporary look. It’s an ideal Grandmillennial sofa.
Grady Pleated Sofa
The shape of this sofa is classic – simple lines with a little skirt for flare. But what I love most about it is that it’s customizable.
There are 152 fabric choices available, including striped, checked and solid. You can also choose the type of fabric you’d like: performance, cotton, linen or velvet.
So, if you’ve got something particular in mind, you’ll want to check out this option.
Monroe Tassel Sofa
Another favorite of mine from Society Social is the Monroe sofa. I love the tufting and tassel trim on it.
Just like the Marilyn sofa, the Monroe is very customizable. So if green isn’t your color, there are other options available.
Fabric options include performance, velvet and linen in solid and patterned options.
Magnolia Sofa
Blue, velvet, slightly curved back – this piece is beautiful.
This sofa has no skirt, but it doesn’t need one. The brass casters on its legs would be a shame to hide. Feather down filled for long-lasting quality.
And if you need a fabric swatch for reference, you can make a request for that too.
Maggie Sofa
Ballard Designs is quintessential traditional style and they have lots of sofa options that would work well in a Grandmillennial home.
This Maggie sofa has intricate legs, tufting and many fabric options. And it’s one of the few choices on this list that lets you select your wood finish too.
The fabric shown above is the Biff Leaf fabric.
Simeon Sofa
If you’re not interested in a skirted sofa, then the Simeon from Birch Lane may be for you. The single cushion sets this sofa apart from some of the other options on this list.
This is a piece of furniture made of wood and a down fill blend. Comes in light blue and tan.
Havenview Sofa
Concluding the list of Grandmillennial sofas is this showstopper.
This is definitely the least classic option on the list, but I know there are some of you who prefer unconventional pieces.
If your space is lacking in pattern, the Havenview sofa by Anthropologie can be a great way to incorporate visual interest. It has a strong Chinoiserie pattern and high contrast, so it makes for a strong focal point in a room.
